Connor Faint Runs To All-America Finish
2017 Jun 9
Junior hurdler Connor Faint (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) earned an All-America medal at the 2017 NCAA Track & Field Championships.
Faint drew a tough lane assignment for Saturday's final, but ran a strong final 100 meters to edge Matthew Grafton of Penn State-Behrend by three-hundredths of a second. Faint finished in :52.98 to claim the eighth and final All-American spot on the podium. He had run a :53.30 in Thursday's prelims.
Rowan's Anthony Salemo beat the field by nearly a full second to break the stadium record and win gold in :51.06.
Faint earned EMU's first men's All-American honors in outdoor track & field since Jeremy Webster was seventh in the 200m in 2005. Nathan Turner was an All-American in the indoor shot put in 2007.
The national meet was at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
